      <title>AI versus our Humanity</title>

           A couple of years ago I was on the sales advisory board of a leading AI company which focused on selection and management of employees with the goal to create better employee satisfaction, increase productivity and to reduce turnover.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The idea behind it: Let algorithms determine the general psychological profile of candidates and match them to the “right” teams. Who is the best fit? What personality traits are useful and desirable to have in certain areas of an organization? What components are lacking and could be purposefully introduced. Perhaps we will want to add a certain level of internal competitiveness, or may want to have some employees which are options oriented versus having a procedures orientation. No doubt AI has some usefulness, however the biggest hurdles so far are legal and compliance issues. But what is not taken enough into consideration is our human capability to grow, transform, change and adapt.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We may not be aware of it, but we are running literally 50-60 mental programs (perceptional filters) in our background which will determine which of our perceptions are being selected for attention. This happens mostly on an unconscious level. As a consequence these background programs frame our interpretation of events, shape our experience and therefore determine emotions and reactions.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Last weekend I offered a retreat workshop, addressing and practicing some of these perceptional components and the impact they have upon our lives. Particularly, how we use language to create our reality – sometimes empowering but much more often limiting. This was done in combination with sensory awareness of our physical body and mind in the form of yoga. It was a beautiful and deeply gratifying experience for me and the participants involved - a holistic approach to our transformation.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           While AI has developed in a breathtaking speed and will have its usefulness in a wide array of topics and circumstances, let’s keep the human aspects in our life and take more control. We do not need to have machines and algorithms shape our experience. Rather let’s use it for verification and overlay purposes in data analytics and organizational design, not as a standalone tool.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           With good and steady practice we can become aware off and identify which mental programs are running us in the background. Then we can choose the ones to keep and utilize in a contextualized ecological fashion. It’s a matter of sensory awareness. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

      <title>Worst case scenario thinking</title>

           During the course of our personal development we encountered situations which had a great influence on our way of thinking and the formation of mental pathways. Responses to events perhaps once useful and the best choice we had at that time under the circumstances are no longer useful today. When we keep these obsolete mental patterns alive and still operate from them they become road blocks and limitations for us. We can call them limiting beliefs. Since we were able to build and originate them we are also quite capable of removing them again.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           One of these limiting beliefs and mental dynamic is “worst case scenario thinking”. Some of you may claim I am a realist and this is a good way to be prepared for these negative events. In the process we operate unconsciously from certain perceptional filters and we are run by them on autopilot. It’s common for many of us to create inauthentic fears about future events which never may realize. But these negative mental future representations can take on a life of their own and become very real. While worst case scenario considerations can be useful in planning stages, but are quite limiting to our personal development when they take the form of mental patterns.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Have you ever asked yourself what’s the impact on our behavior when we give in to these mental processes without getting a handle on it? What’s the real cost to our well being, to our generative powers, our relationships and our work environment?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Let’s ask another fundamental question:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           How do we determine which of our perceptions are being selected for attention? We take in a vast array of sensory data every day and make nonstop meaning of it. While we have many possible ways to internally process and interpret – we chose unconsciously certain pathways and apply perceptional filters (which become habitual ways of thinking). In that process we generalize, delete and distort portions of our experience. In my coaching session I will guide you to bringing light to these processes and shifting them into the realm of awareness. There are several ways to deal with them. One of them are NLP techniques (Neuro Linguistic Programming) which we can use to undertake significant changes to our “internal wiring” and therefore creating free space for new possibilities.
           &#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

However, crisis can also be an opportunity for growth and transformation. In fact, many people have used crisis as a catalyst to make positive changes in their lives. Here are some ways that challenging times can spark transformation:

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Making positive changes: Crisis can be a wake-up call that prompts us to make positive changes in our lives. For example, a health crisis may inspire us to adopt healthier habits, or a financial crisis may lead us to become more frugal and mindful of our spending. By making positive changes, we can transform our lives in meaningful ways.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Connecting with others: Crisis can bring people together and foster a sense of community. When we face difficult times, we may seek support from family, friends, or even strangers who are going through similar experiences. This can lead to new connections and a sense of belonging.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Finding purpose: Crisis can also help us to find purpose and meaning in our lives. When we face difficult circumstances, we may be forced to re-evaluate our goals and aspirations. This can lead to a sense of clarity about what we really want to achieve, and a renewed sense of purpose.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           The mind and body are deeply interconnected, with each influencing the other in complex ways. This mind-body connection has been recognized by traditional healing systems for centuries, and is increasingly being supported by scientific research.
